Does it include domestic violence? If not the bill is worthless to a large portion of your constituents. Domestic violence victims are not allowed to purchase guns for our safety. Since The State of Delaware does not supply our safety, what are we left with?

The Coalition Against Domestic Violence supported this policy through every iteration, knowing that women are far more likely to be threatened, injured, or killed by a gun than to use it effectively in self defense. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1448464/

🚨ALERT: The DOJ's latest move is a direct assault on civil liberties! 🚨The National ERPO Resource Center sounds helpful, right? Wrong! Instead of safeguarding Due Process rights, it's a one-stop-shop for stripping citizens of their Second Amendment rights. 😡Red flag laws are already problematic, lacking crucial Due Process protections. The DOJ's center exacerbates this, promoting firearm seizures without ensuring fairness or accountability. 😠Congress is rightly skeptical, investigating the shady origins of this center. It's clear: the DOJ is prioritizing gun control over civil rights. 🛑Stand up for Due Process and defend the Second Amendment! Don't let the DOJ trample on our rights. #ProtectOurRights #DefendDueProcess 🇺🇸🔫https://lnkd.in/g4WXU7-J

👏 👏 👏 Virginia is for lovers…and for voters! We are so proud of Virginia voters for making their voices heard yesterday. TLDR: Virginia Democrats have retained control of the Senate and have retaken the House of Delegates. What does this mean?🥳This is a major win for gun violence prevention (GVP) advocates. Having both a majority in the House and Senate means that the groundbreaking gun control laws passed in 2020 are safe for the next two years.🫶Virginia will continue to be safer thanks to our Democrat-led House and Senate. Studies have shown that common sense gun control legislation is effective at reducing gun violence in that state and in neighboring states. 📣Governor Glenn Youngkin has made it clear he will not sign any new gun violence prevention legislation. With Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, our work is more important than ever. We must once again show the Governor how important these issues are to us and make it exceedingly difficult for him to veto popular, life-saving policy solutions.📸Thank you to Moms Demand for this wonderful graphic.

The sense of safety that should be born from small, close-knit communities feels further and further away in Indiana. According to our research, at least as far as perceptions go, Hoosiers say their communities are falling prey to rising crime rates. When reflecting on the issues most affecting their communities, rising crime rates and increasing gun violence were named at the top. Republicans are more likely to fear the former, and Democrats the latter, while Independents are concerned about both trends in equal measure.Interestingly, the perception of rising crime is helping to contribute to calls for public safety reforms normally unpopular with the Right. Even Republicans in Indiana are interested in finding compromise on some form of gun reform, such as background checks.Nearly 7-in-10 Hoosiers say it is important that elected leaders pass common sense gun reform like universal background checks. There is no better time to take on gun reform. The time is now. Our safety and our young people are betting on it. Make your voice count, register to vote and see you at the ballot this fall.#CommunitySafety #GunReform #EndViolence #Community #Values #Research #Vote

Today I saw something that I have never seen in California. I saw an Obama-appointed judge on the 9th Circuit in Pasadena, a so-called "white" male, with no hair kinda like a neo-nazi played by Ed Norton in that one movie, flanked by two Trump-appointments, both women, a blond on the right, and a heftier but very serious brunette on the left, I saw this judge , this Democrat judge, on the 9th Circuit, I saw him do what . Take a guess. I saw him come over to the side of the Republicans on the Second Amendment. HOLY CRAP. He slapped down the Democrat-ill-prepared attorney arguing for the California Attorney General, and I'm talking this was basic undergraduate I'm not prepared for the quiz in Mather's class kind of buffoonery that the Democrats presented in Court. Which, is par for the course (and I am not exaggerating--if you subscribe to the podcast (trp) you know because I've documented it extensively, in excruciating detail with footnotes). This guy , you see his face listening carefully to his Trump-appointed Republican women colleagues' questions get totally ignored by the Democrat attorney for California's Atty General defending the gun control law under review, and you see this guy's face, and his face says, that's a good point the Republicans made, and this Democrat in front on me, this "attorney," he is a total grade-inflated buffoon (and he's Asian, and he's grade-inflated, total buffoon, totally unprepared). And so, he votes with the Republicans the next day to strike the law's enforcement down. The law was putting gun stores across the state out of business. And the 9th Circuit said, no, that's not going to be enforced right now, and it was 3-0, 2 Trump, 1 Obama, all on the same side. First time I have ever seen that in California, ever. A Democrat on the 9th Circuit seeing the light. By the way, it's because Trump put 3 judges on the US Supreme Court. Trump did that. The Republican Senate did that, too. First time.(1)This is good for all Californians. May it be the first of many more to come.Footnotes:(1): Code for, "he made History."

📣 Important Update: A Victory for Local Governance and Public Safety!A recent ruling has declared that Indiana’s attempt to block Gary’s lawsuit against gun manufacturers is unconstitutional. This decision is a crucial win for the city of Gary, which is striving to hold gun manufacturers accountable for their role in the gun violence that impacts our community. Why this matters: ✅ Local Impact: Gary is at the forefront of addressing the devastating effects of gun violence, and this lawsuit is a vital step towards meaningful change. ✅ State vs. Local Power: The court’s decision underscores the importance of local governments having the authority to tackle issues that directly affect their communities. ✅ Shifting Attitudes: Interestingly, the perception of rising crime is leading to calls for public safety reforms—calls that are even resonating with Republicans in Indiana. According to our research, nearly 7-in-10 people say it is important that elected leaders pass common-sense gun reforms like universal background checks.Let’s support Gary in its fight for justice and safer neighborhoods. Together, we can advocate for the reforms our communities need.Story here: https://lnkd.in/g7HJVUSj@indystar #GunSafety #CommonSenseReform #LocalGovernance #IndianaNews #GaryIN

Working to End Gun Violence in America

On Tuesday, 93 Senators voted to pass Senator Richard Blumenthal's Kids Online Safety Act (S. 1409) to hold the social media corporations accountable for not keeping children safe. Since guns are the #1 killer of our children and teens, Congress must also pass Senate Blumethal and Representative Adam Schiff's Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act (S. 2048 and H.R. 4184), to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) to end the gun industry's special civil liability shield. The 7th Amendment protects the right for citizens to have a jury trial in federal courts with civil cases where the claim exceeds a certain dollar value and PLCAA violates our constitutional right. The Kids Online Safety Act (S. 1409) would allow the attorney general of a State to bring a civil action on behalf of the residents of the State in a district court of the United States or a State court of appropriate jurisdiction. We support the Kids Online Safety Act AND we also strongly support policies to protect our children from gun violence. If Congress can remove social media's immunity from civil actions then Congress must act to eliminate the gun industry's civil liability shield by repealing PLCAA. Last week, I traveled to D.C. with PLCAA survivors Sandy and Lonnie Phillips, a student and teacher who survivord the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, a mom whose son survived Parkland, and six other students from Newtown/Sandy Hook to urge the Congressional holdouts to cosponsor and vote on the bill to repeal PLCAA. We met with over 30 House and Senate offices and I am pleased to report that we have secured 12 additional cosponsors for HR4184. Our goal is to secure at least 150 cosponsors so that the House Democrats could file a discharge petition to ensure that this bill will be a priority WHEN we take back the House in November. Tragedy struck again in our country, highlighting the unchanged need for gun law reform. Thomas Matthew Crooks, a registered Republican with no prior criminal record, legally purchased an AR-15 and used it to carry out the alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. This incident is a stark contradiction within the Republican Party, which has consistently advocated for less restrictive gun laws. The irony is palpable: one of their own party members used these very laws to facilitate violence against their leader. Moreover, they are pushing a convicted felon through the presidential race, highlighting a profound dissonance between their actions and the safety of the American people.Numerous Democratic officials, including President Biden, immediately condemned the violence, expressed wishes for Donald Trump's quick recovery, and called for an end to political violence. This stands in stark contrast to the vicious rhetoric and hateful sentiments often directed at Democrats by some Republican supporters. This outpouring of support and calls for peace from Democrats serves as a model for all Americans, regardless of political affiliation. This tragedy underscores the need for stricter gun control laws to prevent senseless acts of violence. It's not about political differences; it's about the safety and well-being of all Americans. We must come together to address these issues with urgency and common sense. The status quo is unsustainable. Yesterday's event serves as yet another painful reminder of the cost of inaction and the current political instability. If we continue failing to act, it could also serve as a harbinger of much more political instability and violence to come.Let's work together to create a safer, more compassionate society for all. #EndPoliticalViolence #SaferAmerica #BipartisanAction #EndGunViolence #ActNow #StopTheHate #PeaceNotPartisanship #GunReformNow
