Last 10 days were bad ones for me. I had a load going to OH. First fault code popped up in Amarillo area. Checked and it was 'LOW REGEN TEMP'. I changed the HC doser block. Outside was cold and snow was coming, plus that f***n HC doser block location on DD15. If the designer engineer (who's idea is that ####ty block's location)) was next to me I would kill him by screwdriver or by 1/2" wrench) . sure ! How many idiots are holding master degrees in this country? god knows only. Cleared the codes and started driving. Another code popped up when I arrived Joplin, mo . Checked and it was spn 4077 fmi14 . Ignored it because no way to fix it on the road. After 300 m got regen needed light on and when I got to Indy it started flashing. Stopped to do parked regen. The regen was aborted because of active spn 4077 fmi14. I had used HC block in my truck as a spare and replaced it. it was another 3 hours under the truck after noon(cold and dark). I was lucky I had parked regen started and done itself. I was thinking the nightmare is gone but... next day I had different fault code active. Spn 4077 FMI 0..((( I replaced the doser injector valve according to manual. After starting the engine fault code became active again. After careful inspection of old doser injector valve I found melted plastic inside(I guess pieces of plastic came from bad doser block and melted there because of high temp.). I want to be short . I changed the fuel line from doser block to doser injector valve because it was clogged too(3 hours job- it's so hard to change it because of location.) Also I cleaned the hole where that injector goes in. The inside of the hole was badly clogged. My suggestion is to clean that hole every 200-300k . Cleared all codes , took a load to Los Angeles. The big surprise was waiting for me next day. I found leaking head gasket on the engine . The head gasket is leaking behind of turbo when engine is cold. it is just coolant leak, no compression is coming out and no oil-coolant mix . The engine has 450k miles.
What is going on with new engines people? who are designer-engineers of this crap? who are part suppliers ? does anybody take control of quality? what is waiting us in the future? All late model engines are POS (cummins, dd,..,....)Last edited: Dec 7, 2015

New trucks are built to break and on top of that, they're put together so most of the time you need to go back to the dealer to get it repaired the down side of this is that the dealer knows probably less than you about these trucks so it's just a messed up situation all around. I've seen this leak on cascdia from headgasket before but check to see if it's the freeze plug on the head that's where mine was coming from and after a few trips it stopped by itself. So that was a huge plus. The doser hole should be cleaned out close to every 100K or every year and on dd15 a lot of people don't know but the doser you can actually just remove the injector part of it should be a 14mil and you do not have to touch the coolant lines or anything like that just remove middle clean it up and replace it.

that's what I did. disconnected the fuel line(14mm) and removed the injector(12mm). did not touch the housing. when I saw the coolant leak I thought one of cooling manifold's gaskets are bad. it happened before with my friend's truck. after cleaning the coolant and careful inspection I found the spot where the coolant is coming off. its head gasket or could be crack on head between #2 and #3 cylinders. Some people are saying could be bad upper seal of liner. I have warranty on this engine and took it straight to DD distributor shop(not freightliner). They will open it tomorrow.
